Colon Cancer Coalition honors Wind River with Grant

12/29/2019

Wind River is honored to be named a 2019-2020 grant recipient from the Colon Cancer Coalition.  This grant allows us to offer retreats and programs for colorectal survivors at no charge to them.  THANK YOU CCC!

What can YOU do to prevent Colon Cancer??

1.  Local funding to the Colon Cancer Coalition is provided by the Charlotte based fun run called Get Your Rear in Gear which will be held on Saturday March 28th - mark your calendar and sign up for the Wind River Team (sign up here)!

2.  Be a Super Hero to your family by making sure you step up and get screened if you are due (or past due).  * Colon cancer is PREVENTABLE 91% of the time when caught early!

Colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or rectum) is the third most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death from cancers that affect both men and women, BUT it is preventable if caught early! You should get checked starting at age 50 unless you are at higher risk from smoking, are African American, have a family history of colorectal cancer or are exhibiting symptoms like bloating or changes in bowel habits.  Play it safe, check with your physician or a GI specialist with any concerns.
And as always, get plenty of physical activity and eat healthy (it reduces your risk of all types of cancer AND heart disease)!

UPDATE: THIS CLASS IS FULL. Email  Shannon if you wish to be added to a wait list.

A special evening with an outstanding Life/Business Coach Katie Mattson Craig of Energize your Momentum.   There will be 8 - 10 of us survivors and the intention is to give you some time and space to create something that will illustrate what you'd like to attract in the new year.  I also expect there will lots of laughs and heart connections!

Energize Your Momentum Vision Board Workshop (for Wind River Survivors)
Friday January 17th
5:30pm - 6pm Arrival
6pm - 9pm Workshop (food will be provided)
Located at a private home on the Lake --- Exit 31 off Hwy 77 (just south of Mooresville, NC)

Few more details:  What is a vision board?
A vision board is a visual representation of images and text that illustrate what you’d like to attract this year. We will create some focus areas for your intentions and you’ll leave with a beautiful visual of where to put your energy this year.  You’ll be amazed at what happens naturally even if you thought it was far fetched or you weren’t sure why you were putting it on your board! This is a fun, creative, interactive experience. Just come and have fun creating with a group of powerful people!

Class is full but we may have cancellations

This holiday season a member of the Caped Crusaders 4 Cures team, (a top fundraising team at 24 Hours of Booty) shared the Wind River story with an artist friend who has now donated over 100 original pieces of art, including the one enclosed here for you!

When we spoke with the artist, Raissa Urdiales, there was an immediate connection with the messages behind her art and Wind River.  We both love being surrounded by nature, taking time out of a busy schedule for the things we love to do (Raissa paints every day before going to work to calm her mind), and connecting with others in a meaningful way.

Special thank you to Caped Crusaders 4 Cures for covering the cost of this mailing!

“
I paint mountains thinking of their majestic beauty that has taken millions of years to create. I paint trees thinking of the cycle of life that they represent as they are reborn, grow, shed, and rest through each season. It's what frees me from the technology that has taken over our world.”

– Raissa Urdiales
