The Great Light Bulb Change Out!

Want to save money AND the planet?!

Say YES and change out your most heavily used light fixtures to LED light bulbs. It's one of the easiest ways ever to cut your electric power bill, saving you money and reducing your impact on the environment!

Over the winter LED bulbs finally dropped in price to where you can buy a 2 pack of LED bulbs at Lowes for about $3.50 (less than $2 per bulb)!  That's pretty amazing considering they come on immediately (no need to warm up like fluorescent bulbs), have good "warm" light, last 5 years or more and a 40 watt equivalent bulb uses about 5 watts (compared to a fluorescent bulb at 16 watts).  The 60 watt equivalent LED bulb uses about 9 watts and is super bright.

Over the winter we changed out nearly every light on the property (trust me - there are a LOT) to LED.  The big chandelier in the living room had (12) 40 watt bulbs - that's 480 watts (which is why we only turned it on for guests)!  Changing them out to LED means that when we turn it on now it only uses 54 watts (4.5 watts/bulb)!  Can you imagine when homeowners, businesses and cities have all switched to LED lighting?  The reduction in wasted power (and the need to produce it from power plants) would be AMAZING!

If you haven't given LED bulbs a chance yet - do it.  They make them for almost all types of bulbs (including floods, candelabra, halogen style) and can be dimmed if you look for that on the package.
