24 Hours of Booty (the 24 hour cycling event that raises funds for various survivorship programs) was certainly different this year! With no way to gather in person Booty went "unlooped" and we are proud to say our Wind River team came in 9th place raising a total of $14,355 raised for 24 Foundation! Our team was 33 people strong with 23 of them being SURVIVORS and many of those in treatment! Each team member choose their own "24 themed" activity and were very creative since many were survivors and not able to do some of the more traditional forms of exercise: - 24 laps around a labyrinth in the woods - 24 consecutive times jumping rope (in treatments - stage IV breast cancer) - 2 hours and 4 minutes of hiking with a 24 pound backpack - 24 laps in a neighbor's pool - 24 minute meditation - made 24 masks to give to survivors - 24 original Art Work - 2 hours and 4 minutes of a VR game - sang star-spangled banner for opening ceremony - push-ups, biking, walking running, ..... You get the picture!!! We couldn't be prouder of our entire 2020 team including Rob & Lauren & James, our first Wind River/24 couple with the first Wind River baby! WIND RIVER is a huge believer in spending time in Nature but it has a more formal name and great healing background. Shinrin-Yoku, translated into English as ‘forest bathing', means taking in the forest atmosphere during a leisurely walk. It is a therapy that was developed in Japan during the 1980s, becoming a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Researchers, primarily in Japan and South Korea, have conducted studies on the health benefits of spending time amongst the trees, demonstrating that forest bathing positively creates calming neuro-psychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system. Every study conducted so far has demonstrated reductions in stress, anger, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness amongst the participants. In fact after just 15 minutes of forest bathing blood pressure drops, stress levels are reduced and concentration and mental clarity improve. Here's the blog with more information and 5 simple steps to Forest Bathing: 5 Simple Steps to Forest Bathing And here is a link to sign up for our Forest bathing onsite opportunities over the next month: FOREST BATHING opportunities for survivors and loved ones to come and enjoy the property. Getting slimed is anytime you leave an interaction with someone and even though they might feel great but you just feel...slimed. As a highly sensitive and empathetic person, I have spent my entire life trying to navigate what to do when I feel like I have been slimed. My absolute favorite tool to use for these moments is an Energy Bath. An Energy Bath comes from a Qi Gong technique that can be used to move and discharge energy from the body. This can be practiced in between sessions, after a stressful meeting or exchange with someone. To me, if I am sensitive enough to pick up on something, I am sensitive enough to release it. This reframe has been incredibly empowering for me on my own healing journey and I hope you find it supportive. To practice this tool with me, please check out this video of an Energy Bath practice. ...
