This powerful series explores the notions of growth, loss and the inner battle of the mind, the spirit and the heart. Harvey Gantt Center, 551 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC ![]() TJ REDDY EXHIBIT This retro show with our friend TJ is amazing! For five decades, the artist and activist, poet and performer TJ Reddy has challenged, educated, and inspired the Charlotte community and beyond, through the power and beauty of his paintings and words. There are four magic ingredients in every TJ Reddy painting: color, symbolism, narrative, and transformation. His work is often categorized as a kind of social realism; a better description may be a social surrealist, with a propensity towards nature and narrative. Opening Reception is on 7/20 @ 6 p.m. and the exhibit runs through 8/20 at Projective Eye Gallery, UNC Charlotte Center City, 320 E 9th St, Charlotte, NC 28202, USA More info at: http://arts.uncc.edu/events/opening-reception-tj-reddy-everything-everything I know that most "Looking Back" discussions happen at the start of the new year. For me, looking back at a year of Wind River meet-ups begins now. It was just about one year ago from now that we began having organized meet-ups for our survivors. My favorite part of our Wind River meet-ups is the chance to meet and talk to other survivors in a new setting. We all know how magical our time is when we're on our retreat -- I love extending that magic back into our communities.
As we plan a new season of Wind River meet-ups (exciting details coming soon!), I think the best way to reflect on the fun we had this past year is through pictures from many of our events! Thanks for all of you who have come out and joined us in our Meet-ups. I'm looking forward to spending even more time with you all this year! xoxo, Maggie |
