for our Spring Retreats! - Tom Sawyer Volunteer Days This winter has been a tough one here at Wind River! A December snow/ice storm uprooted and snapped off many trees on the property so we are planning THREE Tom Sawyer volunteer days this spring! We need help clearing debris, feeding burn piles and moving mulch to get the place back in shape for our spring retreat participants. We ask for 3 hours of outside work and then we celebrate with lunch by the creek! Volunteer Days: March 9, March 31, and April 7 (All dates weather dependent) Click HERE to sign up so we can plan projects, materials and meals - come on out with a friend, we'd love to see you! |

Remember when only "dangerous people" had tattoos?? Ok, it WAS a long time ago, but fast forward to modern times and tattoos are accepted by most as "body art". Art that often tells a story (often an intensely personal one) about that persons' life journey.
Recently we became aware of one of our beautiful alumni with stage IV breast cancer who's daughter wanted to get some body art to celebrate her mom. Because we believe in the power of body art to help us remember what's most important, to turn life's pain into a source of strength and scars (surgery scars) into beautiful scenes and even take the place of nipples after surgery, we put her in touch with our dear friend Hayley at Haylo Healing Arts Lounge in Charlotte. Hayley, Hillary and the kind folks at Haylo have been doing yearly fundraisers for Wind River since 2015 (raising a record $2,200 for us at their 2018 Holiday Fundraiser) and they get that tattoos are extremely personal and tell a story. Just this last Thursday our friend's daughter visited Haylo and had the phrase above tattooed on her arm, in her mom's handwriting. Beautiful. Thank you Hayley for your incredible healings! |
