ANGEL PROGRAM AND GRATITUDE CORNER 3 years ago a cancer professional asked Shannon if we could find someone to donate a used tricycle for the daughter of a stage 4 colon cancer survivor. Within 20 minutes, Shannon had 6 tricycle offers! This is what sparked the idea for a Wind River Holiday Angel Sharing Program. ... one of many many notes and calls of gratitude and appreciation for our Wind River Angel programs this year! "Today was my own scan day, and let’s just say it was stressful for the two hours I was there (long story for another time). And now I am in the hardest part-the wait for results. I try to keep busy, but night and stillness always come and force me to face my fears. When I arrived home, I saw a stack of packages delivered as the snow is now navigable. This box—this blessing—is more about love and hope and all the things I need tonight above all else. The Wind River sisterhood is strong, and I feel the love—a day after I mailed my care package to another in treatment, I receive one. Thank you, Wind River Angel, for blessing me on a day I really needed a pick-me-up. ❤️" This year, we have doubled our Angels - with 85 individuals offering support to 99 survivors. They do not know each other, they are just extending offerings of kindness. And many of the Angels are survivors themselves. Wind River is also thankful to be able to offer some financial support where needed, thanks to a special Angel Fund. This year we touched an extraordinary number of survivors and their loved ones. This is also the time of year that Dave, Cheryl and Shannon make numerous personal visits --- because the holidays are a tough time for many of us we like to send a little love to our survivors through personal visits. Humbly, we say THANK YOU to everyone who helps to make these acts of kindness possible! Dave & Shannon |
