Over the past 12 months, we have had to say goodbye to 10 wonderful retreat alumni. In addition to our annual candle lighting ceremony, we have created this slide show to share with you the beauty and joy of these individuals, including photos of them with their retreat friends. With much love we remember each of you: Lisa Meloni, Mischa Sell, Tawanna Padgett, Clark Wang, Diane Layfield, Eric Hansen, Theo Laydon, Laura Vickers, Anabel Nunez, and Billy Bailey. Thank you Everyone! 2011 Wind River Highlights |
- Hosted 4 Cancer Wellness Retreats
- Hosted our first Heathcare Provider Retreatfor oncology social workers and nurses
- Hosted 5 Recovery Retreats for survivors healing from surgery and treatments
- Panelist on Integrative Medicine at NC Cancer Survivorship Summit
- Held Stress-Less Workshops at numerous regional support groups & conferences
- Piloted a new Program: Pre-surgery One-on-One support calls
- Held first large fundraising event: Spread Your Wings, Music Benefit & Silent Auction for Wind River as hosted by retreat alum and her husband, Missi Ivie and Bob Graham!
In addition, we had two major volunteer work days, began recording work on a Healing CD, provided booths at 24 Hours of Booty and two Cancer Conferences, held an "in memory of" candle lighting ceremony, added property signage, redesigned our website, made construction improvements, and more! |

Dave and Shannon are off to Nashville for the finishing touches on the music production of their upcoming Healing meditation CD! Paul and April Brown (Wind River Alum) have done an amazing job of piecing together our guided imagery tracks and musical combinations. We are so excited to share this with survivors AND anyone feeling too much stress in their lives in the coming year. What a special and heartfelt weekend with a group of amazing Latina oncology social workers and nurses. Supporters of the women with cancer in the Wake County area of NC, these women came to Wind River to focus on the future needs of their support group, and also to take time for themselves ... something we could all do more of! Thank you for so many hidden treasures. (Look for our video of Millie and Josie singing by the creek to be posted soon! |
